This Saturday morning saw a mixture of incendiary and high-explosive bombs dropped around the Broadway and Lincoln Road area. Some 100 houses were damaged and three destroyed. One house was saved from destruction when PC Richardson climbed onto the roof and threw a burning bomb down into the road. Controversially, however, the siren had not been sounded until after the attacker had left.
