National Prayer

1941

Information

On this Sunday, churches across Great Britain held a second National Day of Prayer, as requested by King George VI. In Peterborough, the Home Guard formally escorted the mayor and corporation to the cathedral for the morning service. The first National Day of Prayer had been held on Sunday 26 May 1940, when the British Expeditionary Force was retreating towards Dunkirk. (Various sources)
